The Youth Capacity Building Programme Initiative (YCBPI) is a signature effort to empower the youth from underprivileged backgrounds to become more economically active, be developmental champions within their communities, and contribute greatly to the socioeconomic advancement of the country. YCBPI consists of three programmes designed to identify potential in and empower young people ages 16-35 from diverse backgrounds across the country: Entrepreneurship Development, Internship and Job Placement, and the Literacy Program, currently operational in 4 regions namely: Khomas, Oshikoto, Oshana and Ohangwena. The YCBPI provide experiential training that transform the youth into opportunities creators, support to build and expand networks, empower employable skills, improve literacy level, improve leadership skills, improve ICT competency and encourage young Namibians to harness their natural potential in creating self-employment and initiating income generating projects in their communities.
Since its launch in November 2018, more than 300 youth have benefited from our programmes. The YCBPI provides unemployed youth, students and graduates with innovative, experiential learning. Furthermore, it promotes transformational learning and leadership with robust curricula that use holistic, interactive, experiential education to equip and motivate young people to take on greater roles of development and employment creation.
